“Harbour View Condominiums”

If you have not visited Port Stanley in the last couple of years, you might be in for a surprise. The views from the lookout next to the drawbridge towards the lake have very much changed.

A new park and walking trail along the west side of the river has gone in as well as a new tourist information centre with additional areas of parking.

Also new on the east side of the river next to the "Inn on the Harbour" is a three storey, rather large yellow coloured condo building. It has three levels facing the street and an additional partial lower level at the rear facing the harbour. Yellow siding, some partial lower level exterior stone siding and a metal roof.

Pictures of Port Stanley's harbour often show fishing boats parking directly in front of the "Inn on the Harbour". We suspect that going forward pictures taken of fishing boats parked in front of this yellow sided condo building will garnish equal amount of attention.

Nine condo units in total, three per level. Large rear 16x10 ft. covered balconies overlooking the harbour. Wake up to the sound of seagulls squawking. Controlled entry, an elevator. One bedroom plus den units at 1330 sq. ft. and two bedrooms plus den units at 1470 sq. ft. Nine foot ceilings, gas fireplaces, three panel patio doors to help make these units bright. Western rear exposures. When new, the selling price range of these units were just north of $500,000. This new structure is a welcomed addition to the harbour-side landscape.

A note about privacy. A cement public sidewalk now leads down from the library building (and theatre building) to this new condo building and beyond. This arrangement might be too close for comfort for some people. Most new projects in today's world have fences built around them. This one doesn't have that. Maybe that's a good thing.

To see what this building looked like during its early construction process, go to our "New Activity Tab" on our London site and read our Oct 11th, 2017 blog entitled "Port Stanley and New Harbourside Condos".

Some of the commercial fishing boats parked along the river's edge may say that they are from Port Dover about 55 miles away. Did you know that at one time, Port Dover was the home of the world's largest fishing fleet? What a wonderful coastal setting.
